Teen wanted in fatal shooting Tuesday night in Rome

According to a press release the Rome Police Department responded to the parking lot at 1105 Martha Berry Blvd in Rome, after E911 received a call about a possible shooting. Once on scene officer found male subject with gun shot wound. The male victim was identified as 35 year old Richard Jermaine Boatner of 131 Dodd Blvd of Rome, Georgia. Reports say Boatner was shot at least one time. Boatner was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Witnesses on scene was able to provide officials with enough information to help identify the suspect as 18-year-old Cody Deangelo Thompson. A warrant has been issued for Murder; Felony Murder. Previous: Rome Police Department is investigating a shooting Tuesday night. The shooting happened around 9:40P.M. at the Cottis Inns off Martha Berry Boulevard in Rome. One person injured in the shooting and transported by EMS to a local hospital in serious condition. We will have further information once it is released.
