Rome pair arrested after traveling to the Walmart in Dalton and shoplifting

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff's Office incident report, on Sunday, July 26th, 2020, a deputy was dispatched to the Walmart Supercenter located at 2545 East Walnut Avenue in reference to LP employees observing James Simpson, 32 of Rome, removing barcodes from cheap merchandise and placing them on more expensive items. James Simpson had been banned from Walmart and was caught shoplifting. Jennifer Langston, 35 of Rome, was caught placing merchandise in her bag, and she made a small purchase and exited the doors without making any attempt to pay for the stolen items. James and Jennifer came up from Rome, GA, and was observed stealing items. The deputy placed them under arrest and transported them to the Whitfield County Sheriff's Office. Jennifer was charged with shoplifting. James was charged with shoplifting and criminal trespass.
