Rome man arrested after high speed pursuit in stolen vehicle Wednesday night

Demarco Antonio Tair 35, of Rome, Ga., was arrested Wednesday night (November 21st) on multiple felony charges after stealing a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu from a residence on Orlystes Drive in Rome after punching a woman in the head. A Georgia State Patrol Trooper spotted the speeding Malibu on Highway 20 in Floyd County outbound toward the county line. The trooper clocked Tair doing 110MPH+ in a 55MPH zone. The chase continued into Bartow County where it ended near Chulio Road. aggressive driving, hit and run; duty of driver to stop at or return to scene of accident, improper lane change, speeding in excess of maximum limits, reckless driving, driving while license suspended or revoked, failure to maintain lane X3 , improper lane change, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer felony, DUI-driving under influence of alcohol, simple assault/assault, and theft by taking - motor vehicle.
