Rome couple arrested on meth trafficking and gun charges after search warrant at apartment
According to Floyd County Jail records, over an ounce of methamphetamine, synthetic marijuana, numerous scales, and glass smoking devices along with two handguns were found in an apartment on Redmond Circle Wednesday. Rome-Floyd Metro officers executed a search warrant at the apartment. The meth was located in numerous smaller packaging packaged for resale. They arrested Scotty Joel Venable, 37 and Avery Lea Holcombe, 31 both of Rome on drug and weapons charges. Both charged with drug trafficking, possession of meth, possession of meth with the intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug-related objects, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Venable was additionally charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and a probation violation. According to Georgia DOC records Venable has a violent past including robbery and false imprisonment.
