Rocky Face man seriously injured in head-on crash Tuesday morning on Highway 41 in Whitfield County

According to a Georgia State Patrol crash, on Tuesday, June 16th, 2020, at around 9:15 AM, a 1993 Nissan Sentra being driven by Arnold Miller, 45 of Rocky Face, was traveling north on GA-3 in the left lane. A 2005 OTTAWA WT being driven by Micheal Hindmon 60 of Resaca was traveling south on GA-3 in the left lane. The Nissan failed to maintain its lane and traveled into the southbound lanes. The semi changed lanes from the left lane to the right lane to avoid impact with the Nissan. The Nissan struck the front of the semi with its front. The area of impact was on the shoulder of GA-3 southbound. After impact, the Nissan traveled off the west side of GA-3, coming to its final area of uncontrolled rest in the ditch, facing north. After impact, semi traveled off the west side of GA-3 and came to its final area of uncontrolled rest partially on top of the Nissan. According to the report, Miller was unable to make any statements due to his injuries. Hindmon advised that he observed the Nissan travel into his lane. Hindmon advised hat he swerved to the right to avoid striking the Nissan but was unable to do so. A witness advised that she had been following the Nissan on GA 3. She advised that Nissan continued to swerve all over the road and that she was attempting to call Whitfield County 911 when the Nissan struck the semi. This crash investigation was determined by roadway evidence, vehicle damages, driver statement, witness statement, and dash camera from the semi. Miller was seriously injured in the crash and was airlifted by Life Force to Erlanger in Chattanooga. Hindmon suffered minor injuries but was not transported. Miller was cited for failure to maintain lane and driving on the right side of the roadway. (Contributed photo)
