Ringgold woman shoots ex-husband's neighbor in the head during child custody exchange Friday night
According to a Catoosa County Sheriff's Office incident report, on Friday, November 13th, 2020, at approximately 10:22 PM, Deputy Carmichael, Deputy Lopez, and Deputy Cantrell were dispatched to 543 Fowler Road for a subject that had been shot. While approaching the scene, Deputy Carmichael observed two males flagging him down at the intersection of Hoover Road and Fowler Road. Deputy Carmichael observed a third male on the ground beside the vehicle. Upon investigation of the scene, Deputy Carmichael observed what appeared to be a gunshot wound in the victim's head. While rendering aid, the complainant stated his ex-wife, the shooter Robin Brooks, 37 of 543 Fowler Road, Ringgold, was still at the residence. Deputies Lopez, Cantrell, Espy, and Ringgold Police Department Officer Van Dyke approached the residence. Deputy Lopez could see Robin through the front windows. Officer Van Dyke knocked on the front door. Robin came to the door and opened it. Officer Van Dyke then secured Robin in handcuffs. She was escorted from the residence. Once inside, Deputy Lopez witnessed a juvenile in the hallway, who was escorted from the residence by Deputy Espy. Puckett EMS arrived and took over the medical care of the victim. The deputies secured the scene with crime scene tape and started a crime scene log. The victim was taken by Puckett EMS to the landing zone and transported by Life Force to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. The complainant stated to the deputy that he went to his ex-wife's house to pick up his daughter. He stated there were provoking messages on his cell phone from Robin. The complainant stated there was a TPO in place, and in order to comply with the terms, he was to have a third party witness in order to go to the offender's residence. The complainant asked his neighbor, the victim, to ride with him to pick up his daughter. When he arrived, Robin walked down the driveway with a handgun and just began to shoot without warning. He stated he then pulled off and got away from the scene. Deputy Carmichael spoke to another witness who stated he heard what he thought was a gunshot. When he went outside his residence on Hoover Road, he noticed the complainant on the side of the road and assisted with getting the victim out of the passenger seat of the vehicle. The on-call Catoosa County detectives and supervisors were notified, and the scene was turned over to the detectives. Robin was booked into the Catoosa County Jail charged with on criminal attempt to commit murder and aggravated assault. As of Tuesday she remains in the Catoosa County Jail.
