Rain blamed in head-on crash which left several people injured on Highway 27 in Walker Co. Saturday
A Summerville woman was cited following a head-on crash Saturday in Walker County according to a Georgia State Patrol crash report. The crash happened Saturday May 11th shortly after 12:00 P.M. on GA-1 (Highway 27) near Graham Road in Rock Spring. According to the report a 2012 Toyota Camry being driven by Edna White 83 of a Summerville address was traveling south on GA 1. A 2002 Toyota Camry being driven by Gabrielle Greene 22 of a LaFayette address was traveling north on GA 1. White, driver of the 2012 Toyota told Georgia State Patrol Trooper Gideon that it began to rain very hard making it difficult for her to see the roadway. White was trying to stay in her lane, when impact occurred. Greene, the driver of the 2002 Toyota stated that she was traveling north on GA 1 when she suddenly saw the 2012 Toyota in her lane coming at her when impact occurred. 2012 Toyota was traveling south on GA 1 in heavy rain and traveled across the center turn lane into the northbound lanes of GA 1, into the path of the 2002 Toyota. The 2012 Toyota then struck 2002 Toyota in the left front, causing the 2012 Toyota to rotate counter-clockwise coming to rest in the center turn lane of GA 1 facing east. The 2002 Toyota rotated counter-clockwise coming to rest facing west in the northbound lanes of GA 1. Impact was and cause of the crash was determined by driver and witness statements, debris, damage, and final rest. The driver of the 2012 Toyota and the driver of the 2002 Toyota along with two other passengers including a one-year-old were all injured in the crash. They were all transported to Erlanger Medical in Chattanooga by Puckett EMS. White was issued one citation for failing to maintain her lane.
