According to Lt. Stephanie L. Stallings, Public Information Director for the Department of Public Safety on Sunday, May 31st, 2020, at approximately 1:12 a.m., a Trooper attempted to check on what he believed to be a broken-down motorist on I-75 South, near mile marker 330. While the Trooper was stopped behind the 2019 Dodge Charger, the driver accelerated at a high rate of speed, initiating a pursuit. The driver took exit 328 and then entered I-75 North, toward Chattanooga, TN. The pursuit entered into Catoosa County, where the Trooper performed a PIT Maneuver on the fleeing vehicle. The vehicle traveled off the right shoulder of the roadway and began to overturn. There were a total of four occupants in the fleeing vehicle. Two occupants were ejected from the vehicle. The driver and one passenger were taken into custody. One occupant was not injured, and he was transported to the Catoosa County Jail. The driver and the other two occupants that were ejected were taken to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN, with NON-life threatening injuries. According to Catoosa County Jail records, Ramon Boyd, 19 of Chattanooga was booked into the Jail by GSP on felony theft by bringing stolen property into the state. Life Force was called to the scene and landed on I-75. Lt. Stallings said she did have not all the names of those involved and that the report was not complete. We will have further information once it is released. Below is a booking photo from Hamilton County of Boyd from May 25th, where he was booked in on attempted auto theft charge.
