Plainville man facing several charges after fleeing trooper on stolen motorcycle in Floyd County. According to a Georgia State Patrol incident report around 11 p.m. Saturday a Georgia State Patrol trooper tried to pull him over a motorcycle on Old Summerville Road for not having a visible tag. Daniel Heath Edwards, 32, of a Plainville address, sped off and the trooper pursued until Edwards abandoned the motorcycle near Ga. Loop 1 and took off on foot. After a brief foot chase, Edwards turned around facing the trooper in a fighting stance. The trooper deployed his taser Edwards was quickly taken into custody. A small bag of methamphetamine was found on his person and the motorcycle he was riding returned to be stolen. Edwards is facing felony charges of theft by receiving stolen property, meth possession, fleeing an officer for a felony offense, obstruction, DUI drugs, driving with a suspended license, reckless driving, failing to maintain a lane, stop sign violation, faulty tail light and improper display of license plate. Edwards is in jail without bond Sunday night.
