Off-duty Floyd County jail officer injured while helping Rome City PD Officer fighting with suspect
According to a press release from the Floyd County Sheriff's Office around 8:15 P.M. Friday night an off-duty jail officer was leaving an Employee Appreciation Banquet when he observed a Rome City Police Officer fighting with a suspect near the Hardee's on Shorter Avenue. The jail officer immediately stopped his personal vehicle and got out to assist the City Officer. While helping to subdue the suspect the officer fell, injuring his ribs on the sidewalk. The jail officer is currently being evaluated at a local hospital and said to be doing well. Mark Pappalardo was booked into the Floyd County Jail on multiple felony drug charges and felony obstruction charge. We will further information as it becomes available.
