Nevada fugitive arrested after shoplifting $24.34 in merchandise from West Rome Walmart
According to a Rome Police Department incident report, on October 16th, 2020, at around 6:07 PM, Officer Metroka was dispatched to the Walmart located at 2510 Redmond Circle in reference to a shoplifter in custody. The officer arrived and made contact with the asset protection associate. The associate stated that she had observed Kelly Andrews, 56 of Rome, place two separate items from the healthcare and beauty aisle into her purse. Andrews then went and paid for separate items but never paid for the two items in her purse. As Andrews was attempting to leave, the associate made a citizen’s arrest and called for PD to transport Andrews. The total value of items that Andrews had taken without paying was $24.34. The associate advised that due to them being unable to locate the original paperwork showing Andrews banned from Walmart owned properties, they were now banning Andrews. The officer explained the ban to Andrews and advised her she would be charged if she returned to the property. It was discovered that Andrews was wanted by authorities in Nevada. Andrews was transported to the Floyd County Jail charged with theft by shoplifting and fugitive from justice.
