Menlo man arrested after leading deputies on chase through multiple counties in stolen vehicle
On June 12th, at approximately 10:30pm, Dade County Deputies were dispatched to an address on Tatum Gulf Road for a welfare check. The complainant advised that a male was at the address “talking out of his head”, hearing voices, and there were children in the house. Deputies responded to the address and passed a vehicle on Tatum Gulf that matched the description of what the male subject was supposed to be driving. Dade County Deputies activated their emergency equipment and attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle. Upon activation of emergency equipment, the driver began to flee from the deputies and refused to stop. The deputies pursued the vehicle through Dade County, and in to Walker County. Walker Sheriff's Deputies deployed spike strips at the intersection of Highway 193 and Nickajack Rd, successfully making contact with the vehicle. The vehicle continued on to Highway 341, where it eventually came to a stop, due to deflated tires. Dade and Walker County Deputies took the driver in to custody, and he is currently being held at the Dade County Jail on a $10,000 bond. Further investigation found that the vehicle the offender was driving, was also stolen. Sheriff Cross wants to express his gratitude to his deputies, and all the deputies of the Walker Sheriff’s Office, for safely stopping the offender, and taking him in to custody.
