Man wanted for shooting that injured two in Dalton arrested Friday

Jobanie Martinez, 21, 3361 Freedom Lane, was charged Friday by the Whitfield County Sheriff's Office with aggravated battery (gun), burglary (forced entry, dwelling), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, felony probation violation, criminal attempt to commit a felony and criminal violation of the Georgia Street Gang Act. The victims and the shooter were known to each other. The incident happened at approximately 11:00 pm Sunday August 18th at a residence on Dozier Street in Dalton. Investigators believe that Martinez and the residents were associates and have been in some sort of a dispute. Investigators say that Martinez went to the residence shortly after 11:00 and after being there a short time, began shooting at the victims with a handgun. Martinez then fled from the house. The victims, a 21 year old male and a 15 year old male were taken to local hospitals and are expected to survive their injuries.
