Investigation underway after body found in Walker County Tuesday morning

UPDATE: Body found in Walker County has tentatively been identified.

According to the Walker County sheriff Steve Wilson the body found off Old Mineral Springs Road in LaFayette Tuesday morning, June 18, has tentatively been identified as Britney Parker Cole 31 of LaFayette. An autopsy was conducted yesterday (Wednesday, June 19) at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime laboratory in Decatur, where detectives expected a positive identification to be made, Wilson said. Additionally, it is expected that the crime lab will attempt to determine the manner and cause of death. Wilson said Walker County detectives have been working leads and conducting interviews since early Tuesday morning according. Investigation underway after body found in Walker County Tuesday morning. Shortly after 8:00 A.M. Walker County E911 received a call about a female body that had been found off Old Mineral Springs Road in the 2900 block. Walker County Sheriff Wilson says the unidentified woman's body will be sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Crime Lab. Wilson says that two farmers spotted the woman's body. Wilson also said investigators didn’t see any physical signs of foul play. He did say the woman does have tattoos and that they are hoping that will help narrow the search.
