Intoxicated man airlifted after nearly severing arm while breaking into own house in Trion last week
According to a Trion Police incident report an intoxicated man tried to break into his own house in Trion on Tuesday morning of last week and nearly lost his arm in the process from a broken window. Ramelio Mateo, 22 of 23 Third Street in Trion was highly intoxicated being extremely aggressive and using abusive language causing problems according to family members who advised they denied him entry into the house due to his intoxicated state. Mateo then broke out a storm window and severely cut his arm. Trion PD and Redmond EMS responded to the address around 9:53 A.M.. When they arrived they found Mateo with a dangling arm that was nearly completely severed. Due to the injury, Redmond EMS imminently requested a Medical Helicopter. Air Life 15 out of Rome responded and was landed at the Trion track field with the help of Trion Fire Department. Mateo was airlifted to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga in serious condition.
