GSP looking for driver who left crash Friday night in Walker Co. Chickamauga teen seriously injured

According to the Georgia State Patrol: “On May 29, at approximately 10:45 p.m., Vehicle #1 a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica was traveling northbound on Happy Valley Road. Vehicle #2 a 2009 Ford Focus SE was traveling westbound on GA 2 and traveling the right lane. Steven Elrod, age 18 of Chickamauga advised that the Chrysler entered onto GA 2 in front of him. Roadway evidence showed that the Chrysler was attempting to turn left onto GA 2 to travel westbound. The Chrysler entered onto GA 2 in front of the Ford. Elrod attempted to steer right to avoid the collision. The Ford struck the Chrysler on the right front corner with the left side of the Ford. The Ford left the roadway on the north shoulder and continued off the roadway traveling westbound. The Ford then struck the tree with the front of the Ford. The Ford rotated counter clockwise and came to rest off the roadway facing south. Chrysler left the scene without stopping and was located abandoned on Cora Ann Drive. The driver of the Chrysler fled on foot and was not identified. Steven Elrod, was injured and airlifted to Erlanger Hospital.
