GSP investigating fatal wrong-way head-on crash in Dade County on I-24 Thursday night

According to the Georgia State Patrol on May 30, at 11:35 P.M., GSP was notified of a head-on crash on Interstate 24 West near milemarker 3 in Dade County. During the preliminary investigation, the trooper learned that a 2009 Ford Focus driven by Jessica Yarber, 28, of a Rossville address, was traveling east in the westbound inside lane. 2015 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Elizabeth Wilson, 31, of Wildwood address wa traveling westbound when the Focus struck her Jetta head-on. Ms. Yarber was pronounced deceased at the scene. Ms. Wilson and a juvenile passenger were transported to Erlanger Medical in Chattanooga by EMS. A 2017 Volvo tractor-trailer was also struck in the crash by the Jetta after the initial impact of the first collision. According to The Dade County Sheriff's Office before the crash deputies were dispatched to a report of a vehicle going north on I-59 in the southbound lanes. Deputies were then advised the vehicle took the split going I-24 eastbound in the westbound lanes.
Previous: According to The Dade County Sheriff's Office a female was killed after the vehicle she was driving the wrong-way on Interstate 24 slammed head-on into another vehicle. An adult and a juvenile from the other vehicle that was struck were injured as well in the crash. Sergeant Chad Payne of Dade County Sheriff's Office says the fatal crash happened after 11:00 P.M. Thursday night on Interstate 24 west near the Wildwood Exit. According to reports Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to a report of a vehicle going north on I-59 in the southbound lanes. Deputies were then advised the vehicle took the split going I-24 eastbound in the westbound lanes. While deputies were still heading there, they were told that the vehicle had crashed head-on on I-24. Officials say the woman who has not been unidentified who was driving the wrong way died from her injuries in the head-on crash. EMS rushed the adult and the child in the other vehicle to a Erlanger Medical in Chattanooga. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the fatal two-vehicle crash. I-24 Westbound was shutdown for an extended period of time.
