GSP investigating fatal hit-and-run that killed Calhoun teen Sunday morning in Whitfield County

Chatsworth man is facing several felony charges for a deadly hit-and-run early Sunday morning in Whitfield County that killed a Calhoun teen. Georgia State Patrol arrested Eric Shane Moore, 32, of Chatsworth and booked him into the Whitfield County Jail on charges of tampering with evidence, felony, homicide by vehicle, 1st degree, felony, hit And run resulting in death, felony, driving while license is suspended or revoked, and fail to report accident resulting in death. Around 1:19 AM Sunday Whitfield County E911 received a call of a male subject laying in the roadway at the intersection of the Bypass (GA-3) and Maddox Chapel. Whitfield county deputy arrived on scene advising it appeared the male subject had been strucheck by a vehicle. The Whitfield county deputy found what appeared to be a grill belonging to the front of a 2000-2002 Buick Regal

Buick Century standard model. According to the GSP the Buick was traveling northbound on the Bypass (GA-3) when it struck the teenager. The Georgia State patrol along with the coroner was called to the scene. The teenager was identified as Emory Ware, 18 of Calhoun, GA. The bypass was shut down until 4:00 in the morning while GSP investigated the crash. Georgia State Patrol crash investigators identified and arrested the driver involved after they received a tip. GSP along with the Murray County Sheriff's Office located a green 2000 Buick Century with damage that matched evidence from the crash scene at a residence on Spring Place Smyrna Road Tuesday afternoon.


Georgia State Patrol crash investigators say they have identified and arrested the driver involved a deadly hit-and-run Sunday morning in Whitfield County. GSP Corporal Scotty Smith of SCRT says at around 2:00 PM Tuesday, they received a tip, and GSP along with the Murray County Sheriff's Office located a green 2000 Buick Century with damage that matched evidence from the crash scene at a residence on Spring Place Smyrna Road. Georgia State Patrol Corporal Smith says they seized the vehicle and that it had damage on the right side as well as to the windshield. The identity of the suspect won't be released until they finalize charges.
