Cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Zachary F. Solomon, who recently practiced with the Harbin Clinic in Rome until his resignation, is now jailed in the Athens-Clarke County jail on a number of felony charges including rape and aggravated assault after his arrest on Wednesday. According to Athens-Clarke County jail records, Solomon, of 24 Pear Street in Rome, is being held without bond. In addition to the rape and aggravated assault charge, he is also charged with aggravated battery, aggravated sodomy and battery (misdemeanor). He was arrested by the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office. Warrants allege that Solomon strangled the 27-year-old victim to the point she could not breathe and hit her on the side of the head so hard that it caused her eardrum to rupture. He is also alleged to have hit her head and face with open hands and closed fists. Harbin Clinic released a statement on Saturday: “Harbin Clinic is aware of Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr. Zachary Solomon’s arrest. Dr. Solomon has tendered his resignation and is no longer affiliated with Harbin Clinic. Harbin Clinic’s mission is to care completely for patients throughout Northwest Georgia and the surrounding region. We do this by providing the highest level of quality healthcare to the region and nurturing the wellness of individuals and families. With the communities we serve at the heart of Harbin’s mission, the Clinic does not tolerate any behavior that is in violation of its core values of integrity, compassion, accountability, respect and excellence.” Solomon was previously booked into Floyd County. According to Floyd County Jail records, Solomon was arrested on June 21, 2019 after a court order. There are no additional details on those charges.
