Felony shoplifting suspect arrested after dragging Dalton PD officer with vehicle while fleeing
According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, on Sunday, February 22nd, 2020, officers had Thomas Devontay Green, 27, of Cartersville in custody for felony shoplifting. Green had just shoplifted over $700 ($713. 57) worth of energy drinks from Kroger located at 1365 West Walnut Avenue. He was also wanted in a previous felony shoplifting incident from Kroger on January 25th, 2020. Another officer was out with Green's friend Timothy Ramon Steele, 38, of Norcross, in the Kroger parking lot in his vehicle. The officer attempted to get Steele to exit his vehicle, and while doing so, he drug the officer slamming the car door on the officer's arm before fleeing the scene. Warrants were issued for Steele who was also caught on video committing felony shoplifting from Kroger on January 25th, 2020. Steele was booked into the Whitfield County Jail on Friday, April 17th, 2020, several felonies on charges including aggravated assault on officer engaged in duties, felony theft by shoplifting, misdemeanor theft by shoplifting, obstruction of officer resulting in injury and reckless driving.
