Fatal crash on I-59 southbound in Dade County

On Nov. 19, at approximately 6:40 p.m., a 2007 Ford Mustang driven by Thomas Walling, age 34 of Rossville was traveling south on I-59 in the right lane. A Tractor-trailer driven by Stephen Farmer, age 35 of Collinsville, Alabama was on the right shoulder attempting to pull to the right lane. The driver of the tractor-trailer saw the headlights of Mustang approaching and took the right lane. The Mustang struck the back of the Tractor-trailer in the rear with the front of the mustang. Walling was killed in the crash. Stephen Farmer was arrested by the Georgia State Patrol and charged with homicide by vehicle (2nd Degree), and failure to yield when entering the roadway.
The Georgia State Patrol is currently investigating a two vehicle fatal crash on I-59 Southbound in Dade County near mile marker 17. The two vehicle crash involves a tractor-trailer. I-59 southbound is completely shut down while they investigate the crash. This is the second serious crash on I-59 today in Dade County.
