Dollar General employee accused of stealing nearly $2000 worth of merchandise

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff's Office incident report, on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at approximately 1:56 PM, deputies responded to the Dollar General, at 3144 Corporate Dr., in reference to a shoplifting. At the location, Deputies met with the District Manager and the suspect shoplifter identified as Janitza Marie Garcia-Gonzalez, 26, of Tunnel Hill. The District Manager received a written statement from the accused stating she had been conducting price overrides in the computer to lower the price of items. Per the District Manager and Garcia, she had been doing the price overrides as a benefit to herself from November 01, 2019, to January 25, 2020. Garcia admitted to changing prices on items totaling approximately $2000 worth of merchandise from Dollar General. The District Manager had a thumb drive uploaded with video from the store showing the transactions. Per Garcia's statement, she acted alone and is the only party responsible for the transactions. Garcia was taken into custody and charged with felony theft by shoplifting.
