Dalton woman killed in two-vehicle crash on Dalton Bypass last month in Whitfield County

According to a Georgia State Patrol crash report on Thursday, June 13th a 2010 Ford Focus being driven by Rebecca Dean, 33 of a Dalton address was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Old Dixie Highway and GA 3. A 2012 Toyota Tundra bring driven by Salvador Loa, 52 of a Dalton address was traveling east on GA 3. The Focus attempted to travel across GA 3, traveling north. The Tundra struck the Focus on the drivers side door with the front of the Tundra. The Focus traveled north across the roadway. The Focus traveled off the left of the roadway, striking an embankment with the front. The Focus traveled 144.9 feet north of the area of impact to final rest. The Tundra traveled 39.8 feet east from the area of impact to final rest. The Tundra rotated counter-clockwise and came to a final rest facing west in the center turn lane of GA 3. Loa advised the investigating trooper he saw the Focus stopped at the stop sign, then the focus proceeded to attempt to cross the roadway before the crash. Rebecca Dean was killed in the vehicle crash. A 35-year-old passenger in the Focus Joshua Cloud of a Dalton address was injured in the crash and transported by EMS to Hamilton Medical Center.
