Dalton woman facing DUI, vehicular homicide charge after fatal crash Sunday in Catoosa County

According to the Georgia State patrol on Sunday, May 10th, 2020, at approximately 12:45 p.m., vehicle 1 a 2010 Jeep Compass being driven by Tiffany Nicole Bright, 32 of Dalton was traveling south on State Route 3.  Vehicle 2 a 2016 Nissan Rogue being driven by Samuel Culver, 58 of Dalton (transported to Erlanger) was traveling north on State Route 3. The driver of Jeep Compass Tiffany Bright failed to maintain her lane of travel and crossed over the center line. The Jeep Compass struck the Nissan Rogue in the front with its front. The area of impact was in the northbound lane of travel. The Jeep Compass came to an uncontrolled rest on the northbound shoulder of the roadway against a road sign facing north. The Nissan Rogue came to an uncontrolled rest on the southbound shoulder of the roadway against a utility pole facing north. The -passenger in the Jeep Compass Daniel Newport, 32 of Dalton was deceased. The passenger in the Nissan Rogue Janie Culver, 63 of Dalton was also seriously injured like the driver and was transported to Erlanger in Chattanooga. According to GSP Bright was booked into the Catoosa County Jail on charges of homicide by vehicle in 1st degree - felony, serious injury by vehicle - felony, serious injury by vehicle - felony, reckless driving, driving on right side of road, driver shall exercise due care, weaving, DUI - driving under the influence of drugs, and marijuana-possess less than 1 oz. The crash investigation by the Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is ongoing per GSP. Bright was also just arrested on Wednesday, May 6th, 2020, by the Georgia State Patrol in Whitfield County. According to the GSP at approximately 07:13 a.m. Bright was stopped for speeding on GA 201 near Dunnagan Road.  While the Trooper was attempting the stop, Bright accelerated and passed other traffic in a no passing zone.  The Trooper was able to get her vehicle stopped in a private drive, off SR 201.  Due to her driving mannerisms, the Trooper advised her to get out of her vehicle and Bright refused.  The Trooper opened the driver’s door and Bright still refused to exit her vehicle.   The Trooper physically pulled Bright out of the vehicle.  Once out of the vehicle, Bright was placed into handcuffs.  Bright cussed and was irate towards the Trooper during the arrest.  Bright was transported to the Whitfield County jail for booking. Bright was driving a 2010 Jeep Compass at the time of the traffic stop. Bright was charged with Speeding, Reckless driving, Passing in a no Passing Zone, and Obstructing or Hindering a Law Enforcement Officer
