Dalton woman charged in connection with 2019 crash that killed Rocky Face motorcyclist
According to a Dalton Police Department report, on Dec. 26, 2019, shortly after 12:30 PM, a Toyota Camry being driven by Emma Hayde Medina-Gonzalez, 64, of Dalton, was traveling east on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard toward Fields Avenue. Gonzalez attempted to make a left-hand turn to head north on Fields Avenue when it struck the motorcycle's front left side with its front. The motorcycle being driven by Ernest Robert McBryar, 43, of Rocky Face, was traveling west through the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Fields Avenue when it was struck by the Camry. A witness to the crash told investigators McBryar had a green light, was not speeding, and saw Medina-Gonzalez turn in front of McBryar. McBryar was airlifted Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he passed away. McBryar was employed as a truck driver with Sierra Express and served in the U.S. Marine Corps, according to an online obituary. Gonzalez was charged Wednesday with second-degree homicide by vehicle and failure to yield when turning left. According to the Jail Medina-Gonzalez was released on a $1,000 bond.
