Dalton woman arrested on DUI charges after crashing while drunk Friday night in Dalton
According to an incident and crash report on Friday, November 29th at 11:38 PM Dalton Police officers responded to the intersection of West Tyler Street and North Thornton Avenue in reference to a two-vehicle crash. According to the report a 2001 Jeep Cherokee being driven by Teda Lee Huskey, 57 of Dalton address struck the rear of a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu that was stationary at the red light. "Upon speaking with Huskey who was seated in her vehicle, [I] immediately noticed an odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle," Officer Bethune stated. "[I] also noticed that Huskey's speech was slow and slurred along with Teda's eyes red and glassy. Huskey advised Officer Bethune that she was "Just going with the flow and the other vehicle suddenly stopped". Officer Behtune asked Huskey how much she had to drink at which point she advised 2 beers. When Huskey exited the vehicle to perform several field sobriety tests which she failed Officer Bethune stated: "she was uneasy on her feet and stumble multiple times even walked into the side of her vehicle after stumbling." On a field Alco-Sensor, she registered positive for alcohol with a reading of 0.328 (BRAC). She was read the implied consent notice for the State of Georgia at which point she refused the state-administered chemical test of her breath. After being booked into the Whitfield County Jail she signed an administrative license suspension (ALS) form for her license to be suspended. Teda was charged with DUI- less safe, open container, and following too closely.
