Dalton teen facing child molestation charges

According to a Whitfield County sheriff's Office incident report, on August 3rd, 2020 at approximately 11:06 PM, a deputy was dispatched to Morningside Drive in reference to possible lewd acts that had taken place in Whitfield county. Upon arrival the deputy made contact with Juan Bautista-Perez, 18 of Dalton who gave the following information. Bautista stated that approximately two months ago he met juvenile #1 on Snapchat. Bautista said that she had walked to his barber shop he was employed at and talked to him while he was at work. Bautista stated that he had went to the residence of juvenile #1 and met her family. Juvenile #1's grandma told Bautista that she was twelve years old. Bautista said juvenile #1 told him that her grandma was joking. Bautista also reported that he and juvenile #1 had tried to have sexual intercourse two times but never actually had sexual intercourse. Bautista also stated his coworkers told him that the grandparents of juvenile #1 had been in the barber shop he was employed at looking for him and stating "I am looking for a pedophile " and showed the deputy a video of an older gentleman with a firearm on his side in a barbershop. Bautista said he had not been at work when the grandparents were at the barbershop. The deputy advised Bautista of the case number and that a report would be made. Due to being unable to make contact with juvenile #1 the case was left open for detectives for further investigation. Bautista was charged Thursday with two counts of child molestation.
