Dalton PD investigating report of man harassing girl at Kroger
The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying a man that investigators say harassed a teenage girl while she was shopping with a family member. The incident was recorded by store surveillance. The incident happened Wednesday evening at the Kroger on West Walnut Avenue. While a 17 year old girl was shopping with her grandmother in one of the store’s aisles, a man ran up to her suddenly and lunged, as if to hand her a dollar bill. The girl tried at first to ignore him, but then later reached out to take the bill in hopes of getting the man to leave her alone. The man then snatched the bill away and continued to stand by her. The girl said she was frightened and told the man she would call police if he didn’t leave. The man appeared to be smiling. The man then left, and witnesses said he left the store riding a bicycle in the direction of Dug Gap Road. The man is described as an Hispanic male, wearing camouflage pants and a short sleeved white polo style shirt. He has short dark hair and a mustache. Pictures of the man from store surveillance are included with this release. If anyone knows this man, they are asked to please contact Detective Charles Williams at 706-278-9085, extension 9280.
