Dalton motorcyclist seriously injured in crash on Chatsworth Highway early Monday morning
According to a Georgia State Patrol crash report, on Monday, July 20th, 2020, at around 1:30 AM, a 2003 Kawasaki ZR1000 being driven by Marvin Guillen, 28 of Dalton, was negotiating a curve east on GA 52 (Chatsworth Highway). Guillen lost control and overturned. The Kawasaki continued to travel east on GA 52 before coming to its final area of uncontrolled rest on the right side of the roadway. Guillen was thrown from the vehicle and came to his final area of uncontrolled rest on the right side of the road, approximately 20 - 30 yards from the roadway. A witness to the crash advised that the Kawasaki appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed when coming up behind him. The witness advised that he observed the Kawasaki pop a wheelie before losing control and going off the right side of the road. The witness advised that he could not find Guillen, so he returned to his vehicle and called Whitfield County 911. Guillen advised that he passed out, and that is what caused him to crash. Guillen was seriously injured in the crash and was transported to Erlanger in Chattanooga via Life Force. Guillen was cited by the investigating trooper for reckless driving, too fast for conditions, failure to maintain lane, and driving permits.
