Dalton mother and son killed in crash on 225 in Murray County Wednesday afternoon

According to the Georgia State Patrol: "On July 15, at approximately 2:45 p.m., Vehicle #1 (2003 Ford Explorer) was traveling north on GA 225. The driver, Margaret Ellis, age 81 of Dalton was negotiating a curve. Ellis for an unknown reason swerved right and lost control. The Explorer rotated clockwise and yawed approximately 74.1 feet before leaving the roadway off the east shoulder. The Explorer continued to rotate clockwise and traveled approximately 147.1 feet before striking a culvert, with the driver's side of the Explorer. The Explorer then overturned and traveled approximately 37 feet before coming to an uncontrolled rest on its passenger side, facing east. Ellis and a passenger Stephen Ellis, age 50 of Dalton, were both fatally injured in the crash. GSP says both occupants were not restrained."
