Dalton man found DUI after leaving scene of crash in Whitfield County
According to a Georgia State Patrol crash report, on October 12th, 2020, at around 8:25 AM, a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe being driven by Rhett Lee Satterfield, 24 of Dalton, was traveling south on Mount Vernon Road in the south travel lane. Satterfield failed to maintain his lane. The Chevrolet Tahoe traveled onto the west shoulder into a tree line until the front of the Chevrolet Tahoe struck a larger tree. The Chevrolet Tahoe came to an uncontrolled final rest facing south on the west shoulder in the tree line. Satterfield fled from the crash scene but was later located. Satterfield was charged by the Georgia State Patrol with DUI (drugs), failure to maintain lane, operating a motor vehicle while registration is suspended/revoked/canceled, and failure to report an accident. Satterfield remains in the Whitfield County Jail on a 10,500 bond for Bondsman off bond - A-1. His next court date is November 2nd. According to reports, Satterfield has a very lengthy criminal history, including several theft-related arrests from this year.
