Dalton man facing several charges including DUI after rolling pickup truck and leaving scene
According to a Georgia State Patrol crash report, on Friday, March 20th, 2020, at around 12:33 AM a 1990 Nissan Pickup being driven by Richard Allen Riddle, 40, of Dalton was traveling west on GA 2 near Kieth Road attempting to negotiate a left curve. Riddle was driving too fast for the conditions of the roadway and failed to maintain his lane by traveling off the right side of the roadway. Riddle over corrected his steering to the left causing the vehicle to yaw. The pickup traveled to the left while rotating counter clock wise and running off the left side of GA 2 and down an embankment. The pickup was now facing south/east and rolled over onto its top. The pickup came to an uncontrolled final rest on its top facing east in a small creek. After final rest Riddle who was under the influence fled the scene. Riddle was arrested a short time later near the scene. Riddle was charged with DUI, too fast for conditions, hit and run, failure to maintain lane, possession of controlled substance, and drug related objects.
