Dalton man arrested after shoplifting several times from Kroger on Walnut Avenue

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, on September 15th, 2019, an officer responded to the Kroger located at 1365 Walnut Avenue in reference to a shoplifting that had occurred. The manager stated that earlier in the evening, around 8:39 PM, a male subject later identified as Stephen Christopher Williams, 48 of Dalton walked out the front door with a shopping cart full of groceries. The store manager, who was standing near the door, followed the suspect into the parking lot, where he attempted to load the groceries into a white Nissan Altima with a Murray County tag. When the store manager confronted the suspect, he got into the vehicle, which was being driven by a woman, and they sped away out of the parking lot without the stolen items. The store provided a receipt to officers for the items that were taken and recovered, which totaled $459.18. On February 5th, 2020, the officer spoke with the owner of the suspect vehicle in this case. He gave the name of a subject he said could have been using this vehicle during the time of this incident. After checking into the story and comparing a picture of the subject to the surveillance video, the officer confirmed it was not the same person. After getting approval from his supervisor, the officer released photos of the male suspect in the shoplifting video to the media in an attempt to identify the male. The officer received several phone calls about the identity of this male. All of the information received stated that the male in the video was Stephen Christopher Williams. After checking his information in Dalton PD Database, the officer saw where he had a warrant issued for shoplifting at the same location as this case back in November of 2019. According to that report, an officer responded to Kroger, where he was advised by the store manager that advised a male identified as Stephen Christopher Williams) and a female later identified as Angel Darlene Mullins, 37 of Dalton entered the store around 7:52 PM. Williams grabbed a shopping cart, and Mullins just walked in. Williams put a large bag of charcoal in the cart and then several cases of beer. While on the beer aisle, the female walked up and put several items in the cart as well. Mullins then left the store. Around 7:58 PM, Williams exited the store with the shopping cart full of items. The store manager was able to provide a tag number. The owner of the vehicle stated that her daughter, Dara Dee Evors, 32 of Dalton, was driving the vehicle. After further investigation, the Evors finally admitted that she brought her girlfriend, Angel Mullins, and neighbor, Christopher Williams, to Kroger to shoplift. At the time of the report, the total amount that was stolen and brought back to the store is $106.38. Both officers, in each case, confirmed all the information. The officers spoke with Magistrate Court Judge an obtained a warrant for shoplifting. On Tuesday, May 26th, 2020, the officer served the arrest warrants on Stephen Williams. Williams was arrested at Kroger on Walnut Avenue charged with several counts of shoplifting, felony probation violation, giving a false name to law enforcement. Both Mullins and Evors were arrested and charged with shoplifting in relation to the November case.
