Dade County High School senior killed in head-on crash Thursday evening on Daniels Road

According to a Georgia State Patrol Crash report on Thursday, October 3rd, at approximately 6:09 P.M., State Troopers were dispatched to a two-vehicle head-on crash on Daniels Road in Dade County. The preliminary report stats a 2010 VW GTI being driven by Logan Gordy, 17 of a Trenton address was traveling west on Daniels Road at a high rate of speed attempting to negotiate a curve on a hillcrest. 2008 Jeep Commander being driven by Mapisha Barajas, 36 of a Trenton address was traveling east on Daniels Road attempting to negotiate the same curve. The VW GTI traveled across the centerline into the eastbound lane striking the Jeep Commander head-on. The front passenger in the VW GTI Alexis Moore, 17 of a Trenton address was pronounced deceased at the scene. The rear passenger Chloe Baxley, 17 of a Trenton address along with the driver were both transported to Erlanger. The driver of the Jeep Commander along with a 9 and 7-year-old passenger were all transported to Erlanger. GSP Post 41-LaFayette along with assistance from the Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is conducting this ongoing investigation. Sheriff Ray Cross said "Last night, our community was shaken by the loss of such a beautiful young soul. No one will ever be able to explain why this has happened. The days, weeks, and months ahead will understandably be hard, and even unbearable to some. All we can do is be here for each other.
