Couple caught shoplifting from Walmart Tuesday, Tennessee man arrested

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff's Office incident report, on Tuesday, May 26th, 2020, at approximately 4:22 PM, a deputy was dispatched to Walmart located at 2545 East Walnut Avenue in reference to shoplifting. The deputy met with Loss Prevention Officer who stated he observed a white male who would later be identified as Dakota Farris, 28 of Cleveland, TN, at the self-checkout register skip scanning merchandise on the surveillance cameras. The white male was accompanied by a female who would later be identified as Candace Saul. LP also stated Ms. Saul failed to place Tide laundry detergent and a gallon of water on the counter. The LP associate stated he apprehended the male and female at the grocery exit doors and escorted them back to the Loss Prevention Office. Ms. Saul stated she was not aware her husband was shoplifting because she was attending to a Juvenile and the reason she did not place the water and the Tide laundry detergent on the counter was because the counter was full of merchandise and there was no place to put it on the counter. Farris skipped scanned two kid's tank top valued at $4.44 apiece, khaki shorts valued at $3.88, three Disney Books valued at $9.88, Nitro Freeze Wart Remover valued at $23.88, Wart Remover valued at $10.47, puppy pads valued at $24.84, three tent pegs valued at .58 and a power strip valued at $29.47. Mr. Farris and Ms. Saul did not even attempt to scan the Tide laundry detergent valued at $17.94 and the water valued at $1.00 by leaving the merchandise in the shopping cart. The total amount of stolen merchandise was $151.74, The deputy placed Mr. Farris into custody and transported him to the Whitfield County Jail charged with theft by shoplifting. LP associate stated he would pursue charges on Ms. Saul in Magistrate Court.
