Chattanooga woman arrested on shoplifting warrant after daughter is caught shoplifting from Walmart

According to a Dalton Police incident report, on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, a dalton officer responded to 815 Shugart Road, Walmart in reference to a shoplifting in progress. The officer arrived on scene and went to the loss prevention office and made contact with the suspect identified as a 15-year-old female. According to the report, she took a $15 purse and $20 of candy. The officer asked who she was with, and she advised she was with her mother's friend. When the officer tried to make contact with the teenager's mother via telephone, she arrived at the office. When the officer asked why she lied about her mother being at the store, she stated that she did not want her mother to know. After running their information, the mother identified as Denisha Ann Simmons of Chattanooga came back that she had a warrant for shoplifting through Whitfield County Sheriff's Office. It was confirmed, she was placed into custody and transported her to Whitfield County Jail. The 15-year-old was issued a citation for theft by shoplifting. According to arrest records Simmons has very lengthy criminal history including several arrests in Whitfield County for felony shoplifting.
