Chattanooga man charged with DUI after crashing on Roach Hollow Road and leaving scene Saturday
According to a Georgia State Patrol crash report on Saturday around 6:20 P.M. a 2015 Kia Optima being driven Earl Leland Perkey, 37 of Chattanooga was traveling west on Roach Hollow Road toward GA-3. The Kia Optima ran off the road on the right side and impacted the ditch with its front. The Kia Optima continued through the ditch and impacted the ditch again with its front at the intersection of Roach Hollow Road and GA-3. Kia Optima and Perkey were located on Michael Drive just a short distance from the crash scene. According to the Investigating Trooper Perkey kept changing his statements during the whole incident. He initially stated that he had a German shepherd run out in front of him. Then he stated that he has not had a wreck in a month. a witness who lives on Roach Hollow Road told the trooper that he followed the Kia Optima west on Roach Hollow Road. The witness stated that he observed the Kia Optima swerving all over Roach Hollow Road until it crashed on Roach Hollow Road at GA-3. Perkey was taken into custody on several charges including possession and use of drug related objects, license to be carried and exhibited on demand, weaving, duty to report accident and DUI- driving under the influence of drugs. Perkey was transported and booked into the Catoosa County Jail.
