Chatsworth woman arrested on felony warrant after traffic stop for hands-free Tuesday
According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, on Tuesday, December, 17th 2019 at approximately 5:02 PM, Dalton Police officer, was observing traffic, stationary at 501 North Glenwood Avenue, when they noticed a gray Honda Accord traveling south on North Glenwood in the outside lane. Officer Tell stated, "As the vehicle passed by my location, I observed the female driver driving with both hands on her cell phone". The officer then conducted a traffic stop on
The vehicle, final stopping point being in the parking lot of 301 North Glenwood Avenue. The officer approached the driver identified as Jessica Leann Carpenter, 27, of Chatsworth on the driver side window, The officer identified himself and explained the reason for the stop. While speaking with Jessica, he also noticed she was not wearing her seatbelt. After obtaining her driver's license, he ran her through GCIC and received an alert that she had a felony warrant through Whitfield County Sheriff's Office for possession of meth, possession, and use of drug-related objects. After confirmation of the warrants, Jessica was placed into custody and transported to the Whitfield County Jail. She was charged with the warrants, failure of driver to exercise due care (hands-free) and a seat belt violation.
