Chatsworth woman arrested for Shoplifting after stealing over $300 in merchandise from Walmart
According to a Whitfield County Sheriff's Office Incident report, on Thursday, July 23, 2020, at 11:10 PM, a deputy was dispatched to the Walmart Supercenter located at 2545 East Walnut Avenue for a theft. The deputy arrived at the store and made contact with a loss prevention officer for Walmart. Who advised she observed the offender, who was later identified as Katie Leanna Williams, 29 of Chatsworth Free bagging and tag swapping merchandise. She advised Williams was removing tags from less expensive items and then placing the tags on items, which cost much more. The loss prevention officer also stated she observed Williams place several items in her bag without scanning the items. The loss prevention officer then stated Williams exited the store with no attempt to pay for the items. The loss prevention officer advised she then stopped Williams and escorted her back to the loss prevention office. The loss prevention officer then gave the deputy a copy of her loss prevention report and a copy of the receipt for the items taken. The loss prevention officer stated the total value of the theft was $324.17. The deputy arrested Williams and transported her to the Whitfield County Jail charged with theft by shoplifting. The deputy added to the report that he ran Williams's criminal history, which showed no criminal history.
