Chatsworth pair caught shoplifting from Walmart while deputy is dealing with another shoplifting
According to a Whitfield County Sheriff's Office incident report, On October 12th, 2020, at around 9:29 PM, a deputy was dispatched to the Walmart located at 2545 East Walnut Avenue in reference to a shoplifting in progress. As the deputy was en route to the address, another deputy came over the radio, stating he was currently in a foot pursuit with the shoplifter. Once the deputy arrived on the scene, he had the shoplifter in custody. The deputy proceeded to the loss prevention office to review footage for the first deputy that was foot pursuit. As the deputy was reviewing footing with Walmart associate, observed two females on the video cameras concealing items in their purses. Both the deputy and the associate observed the two females putting multiple items into their purses and proceeded to walk to the front of the store. The deputy stopped the females before they could exit the store and escorted them to the loss prevention office. The females were identified as Valerie Casson, 34 of Chatsworth, and Alana Baggett, 26 of Chatsworth. Baggett and Casson had both concealed Biosilk shampoo ($23.96), hair tie ($6.98), Bic lighters ($5.94) x 3, Glow in the dark ($9.97) x2, Chi hair care ($23.77) x2, Batiste dry shampoo ($6.26), Pony connect ($5.44), Hair syrum ($9.97), and lighters ($5.94) in their purses. After further investigating, both Baggett and Casson had been trespassed from Walmart in the past. The same Walmart associate had a signed trespass notification from both shoplifters from prior shoplifting in the past. The deputy placed Baggett and Casson under arrest and transported them to the Whitfield County Jail, both charged with theft by shoplifting and criminal trespass.
