Cedartown man charged with aggravated child molestation
According to a Floyd County Police Department incident report, on April 11th, 2020, Sgt. Misty Pledger spoke with a man who stated he had found out that his roommate's brother, Anthony Neal Hancock, 26, of Cedartown, was possibly having an inappropriate relationship with his 14-year-old daughter. According to the report, an adult female went through Anthony's phone and found text messages between him and the young juvenile. The father stated during the time of April 3rd to the 9th, Anthony was babysitting her while he was at work. The father stated he found out from his daughter's mother she had "opened up" to her and stated Anthony did attempt to have sex with her on one occasion and did have intercourse with her on another occasion. The mother was contacted by Sgt. Pledger and stated her daughter did tell her about the incidents with Anthony. She stated that her daughter had been a victim of molestation before, and the offender was in prison. She stated she feels like her daughter felt it was consensual because of her history of abuse. Sgt. Pledger advised the mother they would contact her back and set up an interview with her daughter and further investigate. Anthony Hancock was transported to the Floyd County Jail from the Polk County Jail on Wednesday, August 12th, 2020, and booked in on warrants for felony aggravated child molestation and sodomy. Anthony remained in jail with no bond.
