Catersville man arrested after beating up elderly man over parking spot at Walmart

The assault happened Thursday night around 5:46P.M. Dec. 13th. at Walmart 101 Market Place Blvd in Cartersville. Bartow County deputies arrested Davontea Mallett of Cartersville at the scene and booked him into the jail on for battery against a person who is 65 years of age or older, aggravated battery, and exploitation and intimidation of a disabled adult or elder person. According to a Bartow County Sheriff's Office incident report, Mallett said he was walking in the parking lot when he noticed a 2013 Dodge Ram truck driving near his wife, who was riding in a Walmart scooter. Mallett told the deputy he thought the truck was going to hit his wife. One witness to the incident said Mallett grabbed the 68-year-old out of his truck, and then began to punch and kick in the back of the head. Another witness told the sheriff's deputy on scene that the truck was about 15 feet from the scooter and was moving very slowly through the parking lot.
