Calhoun Schools closed following overnight Hazardous chemical fire at manufacturing plant
According to the EPA and Calhoun Fire have now said that after air quality sample testing by the EPA, they have found no harmful samples in the air.
Prevouis: CCS will be closed today due to a hazardous chemical fire DHM Adhesives, at the corner of Oak Street and South Wall Street in downtown Calhoun. We are concerned with student and staff safety with regards to air quality in and around the schools. All residents in the area are advised to stay indoors. CMS Faculty: Calhoun City Schools will close for students and staff Friday, September 13, 2019 due to a hazardous chemical fire on Wall Street earlier this morning which poses a threat. Calhoun City Schools' transportation department is presently assisting with the evacuation of several elderly residents due this incident. According to a worker of AHM Adhesive, there was one person injured in the fire this morning. The employee was burned and transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries. According to Calhoun Police Department Elm Street at its intersection with Maple Street, Southbound to South Wall Street at its intersection with Richards Street is currently closed.
