Adairsville traffic stop lands Cartersville man in jail on DUI and meth charges

On Saturday April the 13th, 2019 The Adairsville Police Department made drug arrest of a significant amount of Methamphetamine. An officer noticed a car driving on highway 140 at about 1:30 a.m. in the morning with no headlights on. As the vehicle turned onto the I-75 North access ramp the officer conducted a traffic stop due to safety concerns, as the vehicle almost left the roadway and hit an embankment on the side of the access ramp. Upon contacting the driver, the officer noticed several signs of impairment and a subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in over 14 grams of Methamphetamine being discovered. Mr. Johnny Nickels, age 57, was then arrested and booked into the Bartow County jail facing numerous charges, to include: DUI - drugs, possession of Methamphetamine, possession of drug related objects, improper lane change/ failure to maintain lane, and felony probation violation
