Abandoned building destroyed in fire Thursday morning on Decatur Street in Rome
A early morning fire has destroyed one of the sections of the old foundry building on Decatur Street in Rome. According to Rome Fire Department Division Chief Brad Roberson, the first call came in just before 6:00 A.M.. Roberson said when firefighters arrived on scene the building was already heavily involved. Firefighters were able to keep the blaze from spreading. According to officials the buildings have been abandoned for some time. The cause of the fire is unknown and is currently under investigation.
