Motorcyclist arrested after high-speed chase with GSP trooper in Walker County Sunday

According to the Georgia State Patrol Public Information Office, On Sunday, August 27th, 2023, at 1:28 pm, a GSP trooper was patrolling on GA-1, northbound, near Round Pond Road in Walker County when he observed a red and black in color motorcycle, 2006 Suzuki GSXR, with an obscured tag. The trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop with the motorcycle but the driver of the motorcycle, Larry Franklin Good, of Chattanooga, TN, did not stop, accelerated speed and initiated a pursuit with the trooper. The pursuit traveled through several county roads at a high rate of speed before traveling back onto GA-1 southbound. The trooper attempted channelization of the motorcycle to end the pursuit near Round Pond Road and the motorcycle traveled off the roadway, traveled back onto the roadway and struck the trooper’s patrol vehicle in the passenger front quarter panel. The pursuit continued onto Warthen Road. The trooper was able to get in front of the motorcycle and the motorcycle went off the roadway, overturned and slid into trooper’s patrol vehicle, striking the rear end. The trooper and LaFayette Police Officer Smith who was assisting then pursued Good on foot for a short distance. Officer Smith was able to apprehend Good without further incident. Good was booked into the Walker County Jail, charged with felony fleeing, reckless driving, driving without a valid license, u-turn prohibited, driving the wrong way, improper passing, aggressive driving, obstruction, DUI-drugs, concealing identify of vehicle, no insurance on motorcycle, obscured tag, speeding, failure to stop at stop sign, failure to to yield, and several other traffic related offenses.
