LaFayette man arrested for again DUI after 911 call from off-duty deputy reporting vehicle all over the road

According to a Walker County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On April 30th, 2023, at 1:07 AM, Walker 911 issued a BOLO on Hwy 136 at Hwy 151 regarding a vehicle that was all over the roadway, slowing down and speeding up. Walker 911 stated that the caller was off-duty Deputy Ferguson. Sgt Agredano located the 2016 Ford F-150 driving all over the roadway on Highway 95. Sgt. Agredano initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Jonathan Thomas Holsopple, 24, of LaFayette. Sgt Agredano reported, “[I] noticed the suspect was leaning backward away from the driver’s side window toward the passenger side. [I] could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the vehicle. [I] further noticed that his eyes were glossy and bloodshot, and his speech was extremely slurred. The suspect stated he had consumed alcoholic beverages. [I] asked him to step out of the vehicle. [I] noticed that he was unsteady on his feet as he exited the vehicle. Holsopple had to lean on the back of his truck to keep his balance.” During standardized field sobriety tests, Holsopple showed several signs of impairment. Holsopple was placed under arrest for DUI and agreed to the state test. Holsopple was then transported to the Walker County Jail, charged with DUI and failing to maintain a single lane. According to Georgia State Patrol reports, in 2021, Holsopple was arrested for DUI after being stopped for speeding in Walker County.
