Dalton woman arrested for DUI after crashing into ditch on North Glenwood Avenue

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, On December 31st, 2022, at 2:11 AM, Officer Miller was dispatched to the 1210 block of North Glenwood Avenue in reference to a vehicle in a ditch. Officer Miller arrived on the scene and observed a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu located in the ditch beside the Del Taco parking lot. The officer then made contact with the driver, later identified as Shameka Dee-mee Donley, 44, of Dalton, who was still seated in the driver seat. Officer Miller reported, “[I] asked Shameka what had happened, and she replied that she had gone to Kroger to get air for her tire because it was low. Shameka stated that she then pulled around Del Taco and missed the exit to the parking lot when attempting to leave and ended up stuck in the ditch. As [I] spoke with Shameka, [I] could smell the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath.” During field sobriety testing, she showed several signs of impairment and a positive BAC on a PBT. Shameka advised her that she only had had a few drinks before driving. Shameka was placed under arrest for DUI and agreed to the state test. Shameka was transported to the Whitfield County Jail, where she showed a BAC of .215. Shameka was charged with DUI .08 grams or higher.
