Dalton teen arrested for DUI after failing to maintain lane in Whitfield County

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On November 12th, 2022, at 6:06 AM, Deputy Halpin was assisting Lt. Rann on a traffic stop in the area of East Walnut Ave and Olivia Lane. Lt. Rann observed the vehicle hitting the curve at the intersection of East Walnut Ave and Richardson Drive. Deputy Halpin made contact with the driver, identified as Carlos Gloria, 19, of Dalton, and could smell a very strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. Deputy Halpin also noticed an open 12-ounce Modelo beer can sitting in the center console cup-holding area. Gloria then admitted to having some before driving. During Field Sobriety Testing, Gloria showed several signs of impairment and a BAC of .133 on a PBT. Gloria was then placed under arrest for DUI driving under the influence of alcohol and agreed to the state test. Gloria was transported to the Whitfield County Jail, where he showed a BAC of .135 on the state test. Gloria was charged with DUI, driving under the influence with an alcohol concentration of 0.08 grams or higher, open container violation, and failure to maintain lane.
