Dalton man arrested on cruelty to animals charge after violating TPO and obstructing Whitfield deputies

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On August 4th, 2023, at 7:02 PM, Deputy Center met with a victim in reference to harassment from her husband which she had an active Temporary Protective Orders (TPO) against, which both parties had been served copies of per Whitfield County 911. According to the report, The victim stated on this date she had gave her kids to her husband, Jorge Antonio Morales, 39, of Dalton, at the Whitfield County Sheriffs Office per their usual custody exchange. When she arrived at a friends house later she observed Jorge driving by slowly yelling something out the window. This incident at which occurred on Woodline Dr was captured on security footage from the residence. Deputies attempted to make contact with Jorge at his house on Izlar Way. They located Jorge in his front yard. Jorge denied letting Deputy Center to look at his messages with his friend confirming his story or to speak with the juveniles. According to the report, “Deputy Center advised Jorge to turn around and place his hands behind his back, Jorge then took a couple of steps backwards, started to stumbled, then turned around and ran toward his house. Deputy Center and Deputy Cobb both drew their department issued tasers, aimed them at Jorge, shot the prongs, striking Jorge causing incapacitation at the same time. Deputy Center grabbed Jorge as he was at his front door, and took him to the ground to eliminate the threat of Jorge running off again. Jorge then complied and placed his hands behind his back.” The juvenile’s advised after their mom, and dad, Jorge, exchanged custody, their dad said they were going to follow mom to make sure she was safe. While Deputy Center was on scene, he noticed multiple chickens separated from each other in cages without protection from the elements and without clean humane areas to stay in. One chicken was chained to a gate with a clasp around its leg. Jorge was transported to the Whitfield County Jail where he was charged with violation of family violence order, obstructing law enforcement, and cruelty to animals.
